Millennium Park, Chicago

"Cloud Gate"

Millennium Park was created to celebrate the Millennium and is located in the Loop area of Chicago; it is the “front lawn” of Chicago.  There are many artistic displays, most notably the “Cloud Gate”.  This is a three-story steel sculpture that locals call “the Bean”. The piece costs $23 Million, more than the original estimate of $6 Million.  It is composed of 168 polished stainless steel plates with no visible seams. The sculpture reflects and distorts the city’s skyline.
