Paris September 27 - October 2

Arrived in Paris by train from Milan,Italy and find Paris to be a very large but very well laid out city.  We have visitied all of the required tourist sites and have done kilometres and kilometres of walking.  We also have taken advantage of the Metro system which is very efficient (there are 14 lines as far as I can tell).  The weather has been about 30 degrees celcius each day, and this is apparently well above average for Paris at this time of year.  The tourists and the locals fill the streets all day and well into the evenings, wanting to take advantage of the beautiful weather.  Traffic is busy but nearly as crazy as Florence or Rome (I think Lisbon could tie Rome for that). There is so much history in the city that it warrants a guide; we did that the first day we arrived (Berlin Walking Tours), the tour is free but is tipped based.  Our guide took us on a 31/2 hour walking tour and was very knowledgeable about both Paris and history.  I would reccommend their tours to anyone who visits a major European city....looking forward to the one we will take in Ireland and Scotland (but that is for another day.)

Pont des Arts Bridge over The Seine
The locks represent visitors who attach padlocks to the bridge as a sign of undying love and throw the key into the river….be wary of the lover who uses a combination lock!
