The Eiffel Tower was built in 1889 and is one the most recognizable structures in the world. The Eiffel tower was named after its designer and was built as the entrance arch to the 1889 World’s Fair. The tower stands 324 metres tall, about the height of an 81 storey building.
Because of a special lighting display on the tower in 1989 (100th anniversary of the tower) which was an original visual creation, the tower is protected by copyright and as such it is illegal to take a picture of the tower at night when the lights are on unless you have permission from the government of France. Imagine the Royalties the creator of the lights receives! Every night when the lights go on, he hears,”kaching”!
