Monticello - Home of Thomas Jefferson

Front View
Monticello is the primary plantation of Thomas Jefferson, who designed it.  He was the principal author of the United States Declaration of Independence, third President of the United States, and founder of the University of Virginia.
It has been designated a National Historic Landmark.  In 1987 Monticello and the University of Virginia, also designed by Jefferson, were together designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Back View

I did not find the home particularly remarkable in any way but Jefferson did attempt to make use of all his space, and was ahead of his time with regards to being "Green."
It is interesting to note that he wrote "all men are created equal" and yet had between 200 and 300 slaves! Apparently, his Declaration was only meant in reference to the British Empire, not the slaves.
